A rede varejista americana Walmart pode comprar a operação brasileira do Carrefour por um preço entre US$ 6 bilhões e US$ 8 bilhões, segundo reportagem do Wall Street Journal publicada nesta sexta-feira (12).
De acordo com o texto, a aquisição está sendo viabilizada pelo banco de investimentos UBS AG. Segundo as fontes do WSJ, as empresas ainda não iniciaram conversas sobre a compra, mas o Walmart está “seriamente” interessado pela proposta. As duas empresas não comentam os rumores de aquisição.

O Walmart já esteve próximo de fechar a compra do Carrefour no Brasil em 2009, mas as duas empresas não entraram em acordo quanto ao preço.
Mundialmente, o Carrefour é segunda maior varejista, atrás justamente do Walmart, mas suas vendas em terras brasileiras enfrentam quedas.
